Supply Chain Manager - Planning and Procurement

Vortex Optics is looking for a talented individual to join our Supply Chain team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading, supporting, and developing the team that manages our supply and demand planning and procurement activities. You will also be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring of key metrics related to supply and demand planning to assure accurate and timely service to our internal and external customers; as well as supporting the Demand Planning team by identifying needs and opportunities and helping to guide overall productivity of the team.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Support the planning and procurement team’s day-to-day operations
  • Help to drive operational efficiencies and heightened performance of the team
  • Identify system, reporting, process, and development needs in line with our values and goals
  • Provide continued support and training as well as growth and development opportunities for your team
  • Ensure the team is aligned on prioritization of tasks and achieves monthly planning timelines
  • Encourage creative thinking and continued improvement
  • Work cross-functionally to identify and implement process improvements aimed at item level forecast accuracy and maintaining optimal inventory levels and mix
  • Lead your team in the creation and maintenance of a demand plan utilizing statistical models combined with other market, customer, and product intelligence in coordination with your team, other departments, and other appropriate sources
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Product Development to guide your team in planning demand estimates and timing for new product launches and product end of life
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to plan and support promotional events
  • Examine large variances between forecasts and demand to help drive and align action across the team
  • Develop Supply Chain based sales and inventory plans for use in operational planning
  • Partner with other areas of the business to understand inventory impacts and align on strategies and solutions
  • Delve into inventory variances to plan to understand both cause and effect and translate your findings to your team as well as cross-functionally to drive solutions
  • Partner with your team and suppliers to plan new product launch timing and capacity
  • Manage and communicate monthly supplier forecasts developed by you and your team
  • Perform some of the same responsibilities of your team when business needs dictate
  • Other duties as assigned

  • 7+ years Strategic Supply Chain experience, preferably hard goods with import experience
  • 5+ years leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s degree: Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong ability to lead, motivate, and inspire
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail while also processing a strategic high-level approach
  • Data and results driven
  • Ability to objectively consider alternatives and quickly implement appropriate actions to address root cause issues
  • Comfortable with continuous change
  • Able to effectively prioritize time as well as internal and external customer requests

Preferred Experience and Skills
  • John Galt Atlas Planning experience a plus
